DefExpo 2022 Goes to Gandhinagar, With a Focus on Positioning India as a Manufacturing Hub
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic and AOBP are preparing a project for Czech participation in the defence fair DEFEXPO 2022, which will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, from 10 to 13 March 2022. The Embassy is preparing participation in the fair in the form of a Czech mission and accompanying business presentation at the Czech exhibition stand. Considering the importance of the event, we highly recommend the participation of Czech defence exporters interested in the Indian and regional market. India also assures the participants of maximum provision of hygienic and safety conditions for the participants of the fair.
Defexpo is the largest defence and security industry trade fair in South Asia and the Czech Republic is a traditional exhibitor at the fair. In 2020, the Czech mission was led by Deputy Minister of Defence for Industrial Cooperation Tomáš Kopečný. The partners in the talks with the Czech delegation included top officials of the Ministry of Defence, the DRDO Military Research Institute, the Chiefs of the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy, the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the largest state-owned arms manufacturer OFB (Ordnance Factory Board), the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited), the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of BEML (Bharat Earth Moovers Limited) and the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bharat Dynamics Limited.
In addition to a joint Czech exhibition stand funded by the Projects in Support of Economic Diplomacy (PROPED), which will offer facilities and space for presentations, a programme of meetings with Indian officials from the Ministry of Defence and the armed forces, as well as with major state and private companies will be arranged for Czech companies.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic along with the Slovakian Chamber of Commerce attended DEFEXPO INDIA 2020 in Lucknow, UP to sign a long-agreed Memorandum of Understanding between the Slovakian company CSM and the state-owned defence company BEML to deliver the first joint project - UDS-BEML excavator based on BEML (TATRA) 6x6 chassis manufactured in India.
